Wyoming Foundation’s Joint Women's Collaborative Grant

AATLC president, Patricia Randolph Leigh accompanied by Art Coordinator, Linda Johnson Towles, attended the Joint Women's Collaborative (JWC) awards reception celebration held Wednesday evening May 21, 2025 at the Wyoming Civic Center. It was a fun-filled event for the 25 recipients of this annual JWC award. The theme this year was baseball and the decorated room, tables, and snacks reflected that theme including baseball cards for each organization and hot dogs with all the condiments. Each recipient had chosen a ‘walk up’ song and Dr. Pat had chosen Tina Turner’s We Don’t Need Another Hero (Thunderdome).
We don't need another hero.
We don't need to know the way home.
All we want is life beyond Thunderdome.
Looking for something, we can rely on
There's gotta be something better out there
Ooh, love and compassion
Their day is coming (coming)
All else are castles built in the air
And, I wonder when we are ever gonna change, change
Living under the fear, 'til nothing else remains"
When the grant award was first announced by email, Dr. Pat immediately moved forward to purchase and assemble the interactive smartboard for the STEAMSS (STEAM + Social Studies) programs for elementary and secondary school-aged children. This device will also be shared with the collaborating St. Monica’s Recreation Center on the same property and used in programs or meetings with adult staff and senior adult community members.
It is ready to go! AATLC is grateful for these funds that help move it forward to achieve the goal of a 21st-century technology and learning center for the community of Lincoln Heights.
