PART 2- Tessellations

Let's have fun with quilts at Althea's @ St. Monica's after-school program series - part 2!

In this session, children will continue learning about the Gullah people in Gee's Bend, Alabama and the art of making quilts. They will explore other selected poems from the book Stitchin and Pullin" by Patricia McKissack, learn about shapes, tessellations, and tiles, create and move quilt blocks to make tessellations, and make their own tessellation with paper and fabric blocks. The kids will have a snack before going home.

This is a SoBA [Song, Book, Art] and STEAMSS [Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math+Social Studies] activity.
